SBG’s RaceWatch Drives Porsche to Win

With the sixth season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) coming to a close, SBG Sports Software invites you to take a behind-the-scenes look at how Porsche utilised its flagship SBG RaceWatch software to achieve epic race wins and the triple crown of the Le Mans 24Hour, the WEC Drivers championship and the WEC Manufacturers championship, for the third year running.

For the jewel of the championship and third race in the season, the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche well and truly put RaceWatch through its paces. Working with SBG since 2014, RaceWatch was tailored to meet the analytical needs of 24-hour racing. Timing, telemetry, GPS and weather data is analysed and integrated with circuit cameras, pit cameras and the team’s radio and intercom system. The analysis is distributed to the whole team including pitwall, garage, engineering office and strategy room, enabling Porsche to predict trends happening during the race and modify its racing strategy and tactics in real time.

Stephen Mitas, Chief Race Engineer, Porsche LMP1 Team, sums up the experience: “Using RaceWatch improves performance in the team. It’s become a cornerstone of our race strategy.”
